Makgeolli Fried Chicken

This delicious, fried chicken comes together with hints of Korean flavors by incorporating the traditional rice wine called Makgeolli. This Makgeolli Fried Chicken is tender, crispy, and tastes amazing!! Enjoy this tasty meal/snack with your favorite Makgeolli today!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken thighs cut into chunks
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 pinch ginger powder
  • 3-4 Tbsp Makgeolli

Dipping/Fry Batter

  • ½ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ cup potato starch
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp sugar

other ingredients

  • vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine batter ingredients, whisk and set aside.
  • In a big ziplock bag, combine chicken and rest of the ingredients. Massage chicken and set aside for 15-20min.
  • Heat oil in skillet. Once it's hot enough to make batter float in 3 seconds, it's ready. Meanwhile add half of the batter into ziplock bag and message into chicken. Then dip each chicken piece into leftover dry batter before dropping into hot oil.
  • Deep fry for about 6min or until golden and crispy.
  • Pair with sweet gochujang sauce and Makgeolli.
