The answer is most likely Yes. Many chefs use MSG into stews and soups in Asian cuisine. Mostly to bring out the flavors of the dish and make it more appetizing. From my experience, I do feel that adding MSG tends to increase the savoriness and sweetness of the dish. However, I don’t use it in my cooking because it tends to make my tongue feel funny afterward. So, if you have sensitives to MSG like me, I suggest making your stews from scratch. This way, you will know exactly what ingredients went into your food.
